Business Process Management (BPM)

If you want to do transformation digitally, then there is a good chance that you have implemented Business Process Management (BPM). If done correctly, BPM provides a way for people doing digital transformation in an organization to collaborate and coordinate their work by creating a common understanding of processes across the enterprise

BPM helps the enterprise work as a connected system rather than siloed departments or divisions that perform tasks by handoffs and paper trails.

Social Media Management

Another skill to have is Social Media Management (SMM). SMM is a subset of digital marketing. It is a way of building your brand’s reputation and reach with potential customers. SMM is about planning, implementing, and maintaining a company’s social media presence to promote its products and services in an interactive and timely manner.

SMM has become a very important aspect of any digital transformation effort. It is an important part of the digital marketing mix, which includes search engine optimization (SEO), paid search advertising (PPC), and social media advertising (SMO).

Digital Marketing

If you are planning on doing Digital Transformation, then you need to have people that can do digital marketing. What is digital marketing? Digital marketing is the promotion of brands, products, or services using digital technologies, mainly on the Internet, but also including mobile phones, display advertising, and any other digital medium.

Digital Marketing is not just about online ads and social media posts. It is about building and managing customer relationships and interactions across multiple communications channels. It requires a range of skills.

Customer Relations

Next up, you will need someone with customer relationship management (CRM) skills. This is because your company will have to manage the customer’s relationship with the company. The customer will expect to be able to interact with your company at any time, any place, and on any digital platform.

Digital Analytics

Your existing business intelligence system is not likely to be able to handle all these new processes and data coming in from various sources. So, this means that you will need someone able to make sense of all this new data coming in. You will need analytics skills. Digital Analytics is an area of business intelligence concerned with the collection, analysis, and reporting of data related to the use of digital technologies, mainly on the Internet.

If you are planning on doing digital transformation, then it would be helpful if you had people with the skills listed above. If not, then it would be helpful if you brought these people into your team or added these as new skill sets.

Digital Transformation Advisor

What is a Digital Transformation Advisor? For many small to medium companies that need help with their digital transformation, this person is where they can get it. How so?

Digital Transformation Advisor

A Digital Transformation Advisor is someone that is knowledgeable about digital transformation and has connections to the digital transformation marketplace. They could be small business consultants, senior business leaders, or even senior IT Directors. Their role is to act as a resource for any company that needs help with its digital transformation.

They are not just someone that knows about the journey, but they can connect you to others that can help you with your specific situation.

How are you going to add value? This is an important question to answer when you are in this role. The goal here is not to sell something, it is simply to help someone else in your industry by providing them with information that will make them better at what they do.

How do you get in contact with potential clients? This is the most important question, because if you can’t answer it, then you can’t be successful. Try to find a niche industry that you are very familiar with.

Further, an advisor should have some expertise in the industry they are focusing on. A business consultant with no background in insurance is not going to be able to help the average insurance company.

What Do You Need to Succeed in Being a Digital Transformation Advisor?

You will need to create a website and blog where you can post information about your industry and how it is transforming. This will take time and effort but will pay off in the long run. You will need to create a list of contacts that consist of industry influencers, CEOs of companies in your industry, VPs of IT, etc.

This list is very important because they are the people who are going to help you get clients. They can place you in front of their contacts when needed.

How do you connect with prospects? You need to start by posting on Linkedin or Twitter about your digital transformation expertise. You can also start business groups on Linkedin or Facebook groups specific to your industry. These are great ways to get your name out there and start connecting with prospects.

What else do I need? You will need an autoresponder system that allows you to follow up with prospects that reach out to you through your website or social media platforms. You also want some type of CRM systems like Salesforce where you can track every prospect and all of their interactions with you.

This will make it easier for you to follow up with people regularly without wasting time or missing opportunities because you forgot who they were or what their situation was. You want this information at your fingertips when they reach out because this type of follow-up takes time and practice to get right. I know because I’ve been doing this for years and still struggle from time to time.

So, if you are in the process of building a business or are an IT Director in a small business, please consider taking on the Digital Transformation Advisor role in your industry. The world needs you.
